Medjool date cake

Ingredients

1 cup cake flour
1/4 cup crushed almonds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter
4 eggs
6 fresh Medjool dates, chopped
1/4 cup pure honey
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Powdered sugar and cinnamon, for garnish
4 to 5 fresh Medjool dates, cut in half, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch round cake pan with butter. In a medium bowl, use a mixer to whisk together all ingredients except garnish. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth surface with a spatula.

Bake for about 30 to 40 minutes or until cake surface is golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool. When cool, sprinkle cake with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Garnish each slice with one date half.

Serves 8 to 10
