Egg coloring to dye for
Mar./Apr. 2013 California Bountiful magazine
Coloring eggs using food dye is an age-old tradition, but did you know there are plant-based coloring options, too? For example, for a bluish-gray tint, mix 1 cup frozen blueberries with 1 cup water, bring to room temperature and remove blueberries. For an orange egg, simmer the skin of six yellow onions in 2 cups water for 15 minutes, then add 3 teaspoons white vinegar. Lavender eggs simply require mixing 1 cup grape juice and 1 tablespoon vinegar. Share photos of your decorated eggs at www.facebook.com/cabountiful.
