Nettle Cappelletti

Marlena is a true family-owned neighborhood restaurant that has become a dining destination in San Francisco, located on a charming corner in Bernal Heights across the street from Precita Park. Every night, husband-and-wife chefs David Fisher and Serena Chow work together to create a hyper-seasonal four-course menu that combines the precision of fine dining with the comfort of California cuisine. In 2021, Michelin awarded them their first star. California Bountiful got a chance to watch Chef David go to work on a delicious Nettle Cappelletti with spring garlic hedgehogs and Seville sour oranges.

Dish breakdown: Nettle pasta dough, ricotta and spring garlic filling, hedgehog, and black trumpet mushrooms sauteed with onion confit. Crispy capers, Seville sour orange gel, buttermilk foam and foraged herb garnish.
