Material Girl
Chef Andie Hubka
Cork & Fork, Indio
This cocktail is similar to a lemon drop but has rose flavors and is garnished with Himalayan pink salt. “It feels very girly, like something Marilyn Monroe would drink,” chef Andie Hubka says, recalling with a laugh the origin of the cocktail’s name.
Ingredients
Himalayan fine pink salt
2 lemon wedges
5 to 6 leaves fresh basil, torn in half
4 oz. Crop Organic Meyer Lemon Vodka
2 oz. Pamplemousse Rose Liqueur
1 oz. rose water
1 oz. simple syrup
2 very thin lemon slices, for garnish
5 to 6 dried rose petals, for garnish
Instructions
Rim half of 2 vintage martini or coupe glasses with pink salt by lightly rubbing a lemon wedge on the rim before dipping it in salt. In a shaker, muddle lemon wedges and basil. Add vodka, liqueur, rose water, syrup and 1 full scoop of ice. Shake vigorously, about 15 times. Strain liquid only into the glasses. Garnish with a lemon slice and rose petals.
